Maine Farm & Sea Cooperative wins the Maine Farm, Fish, and Food Innovation Challenge


On the weekend of November 21-22, many great and creative minds flocked to Bowdoin College to compete in the first ever Maine Farm, Fish and Food Innovation Challenge. The challenge is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to pitch their bold, status quo challenging solutions. The goal? The creation of a variety of market models that benefits everyone across the food system.

Along with nine other teams, we spent the weekend at Bowdoin College refining our business model, our value proposition and our pitch. On the final day, Sunday,On Sunday afternoon 36 participant, representing ten teams, delivered pitches to a panel of five judges. In the end we were selected as co-winners with Forq Food Lab. We won $5,000 and legal support from Drummond and Drummond. This win will help us build support for our bid for the UMaine System. There were many other very impressive businesses, including student teams, and we are excited to collaborate with them in the future.We would like to thank all of the sponsors, organizers and participants involved with the challenge. This kind of innovation and collaboration among entrepreneurs within the Maine Food System is inspiring a more sustainable and economically viable Maine for all of us.
